PMU/TATTOO AFTERCARE

Permanent Makeup and Fine line tattoos require careful aftercare to ensure proper healing and prevent fading or damage. Key steps include keeping the tattoo clean, moisturized, and protected from the sun and water. Avoid picking or scratching, and follow your tattoo artist's specific instructions for best results.

EYEBROWS AFTERCARE

For Permanent Makeup, healing process is very important and might make you very emotional as well. If you notice something that you may concern, please reach me out and DO NOT PANIC! That is why touch up is MANDATORY to complete your brows. It is pretty common that some spots (especially inner, arch, and tails) lose color because the skin heal very differently. We will be able to correct at the touch up appointment.

What to expect during Healing process:

Day of the procedure

The area you got work done will be red and tender.
It’s an adjustment for you to get used to your new brows!

Although I won’t tattoo on your face unless I’ll get full approval

from you, it is a BIG change for your face. At this point,

they are dark and big. But remember, the color usually

fade by 30-40% and overall shape will shrink by 10%.

Day 1 - 3

Okay, so they will be even more DARKER! Imagine you cut yourself. Once you get freshly cut, your wound is bright pink. Then the wound start dry out and get darker color right? Same thing! Once the pigment get dried, the color get darker! Like much darker. PLEASE KNOW THIS!. You will start putting healing cream that I’ll provide.

Day 5 - Day 14

Alright, here is comes. The SCABBING and ITCHING! You’ll be like "What is happening"! Whatever it is happening, DO NOT TOUCH YOUR BROWS! Picking the scab or itching will cause loss of pigment. If this happen, I’ll take longer time to work on your brows and have to charge you accordingly. Leave your brows alone and trust the healing process. Some take 5 days to scabbed off, some are 14+ days depending on your skin type.

After all scabs are off NATURALLY, the pigment you will see is a lot lighter than Day 1. You might be like

"Uh-oh.  where they go?". Don’t worry, the color will come back a bit after couple days. At this point, you can start wearing your skincare or makeup.
.
.
The skin will take 6-8 weeks to completely heal. This is why you will need to wait to get touched up 6-8 weeks after initial appointment. Some color loss is normal. I will fix on your touch up appointment. Some minor changes are able to fix on touch up day as well!

Basic Aftercare for Ombre Powder Brows

There will be a little tenderness and possibly, redness. You may also experience a white halo surrounding the area. It is from the anesthetic that was used and will be gone in an hour or so. When the exfoliation begins, remember not to pick, as this will remove your color. Avoid all topical makeup on the procedure area. This includes gels, powders and pencils. Use a clean q-tip to apply your ointment. If you see some dark pieces of pigment, do not be alarmed. This is the process of exfoliating and is totally natural.

Absorb (Day of)

After the procedure, gently blot the area with a clean tissue to absorb excess lymph fluid.

Do this every 5 minutes until the oozing has stopped.

Removing this fluid prevents hardening of the lymphatic fluids.

Wash (Days 1-7)

  • Wash daily to remove bacteria, build up of product and oils, and dead skin. (Don't worry, THIS DOES NOT REMOVE THE PIGMENT!)

  • Gently wash the area each morning and night with water and gentle soap or an unscented cleanser like Dial Soap, Cetaphil, or baby shampoo. With a very light touch, use your fingertips to gently cleanse the area.

  • Rub the area in a smooth motion for 10 seconds and rinse with water ensuring that all soap is rinsed away. To dry, gently pat with a clean tissue. DO NOT use any cleansing products containing acids (glycolic, lactic, or AHA), or exfoliants.

Moisturize and hydrate (Days 1-7)

  • Apply a tiny, rice grain amount of healing cream which I provide 2 times a day with a cotton swab and spread it across the treated area.

  • Be sure not to over-apply, as this will suffocate your skin and delay healing. The product should be barely noticeable on the skin.

NEVER put the product on a wet or damp tattoo.

Failure to do so may affect results.

Avoid touching, picking, or licking your lips, and refrain from using conventional lipstick or other lip products for a specified period. Keep lips moisturized with a healing balm or ointment, and avoid spicy or hot foods, alcohol, and excessive sweating. • Apply a healing balm or ointment as directed by your technician to keep lips moisturized.

  • Avoid Irritants and Infections:

    • Avoid spicy or hot foods, alcohol, and excessive sweating, which can cause irritation or interfere with healing.

    • Refrain from using conventional lipstick, lip liners, or other lip products until the area is fully healed.

    • Do not touch, pick, or lick your lips, as this can introduce bacteria and affect pigment retention.

  • Protect Lips from Sun and Water:

    • Avoid direct sun exposure and tanning beds, as UV rays can fade the pigment.

    • Limit contact with water, especially in the initial days, and avoid swimming pools, hot tubs, and saunas.

    • Use a straw for drinking to minimize contact with the treated area.

    • Avoid kissing or engaging in activities that may cause friction on the lips.

  • Follow Up:

    • Attend any scheduled touch-up appointments as recommended by your technician to assess healing and ensure optimal results.

TATTOO AFTERCARE

Initial Aftercare (First 24-48 Hours):

Gently pat the tattoo dry with a clean paper towel. Avoid rubbing.

  • Apply ointment:

    Use a thin layer of a tattoo-specific ointment or a fragrance-free, tattoo-safe moisturizer.

Your artist will likely cover the tattoo with a bandage or plastic wrap. Follow their instructions on how long to keep it on.

  • Wash your hands:

Before touching your new tattoo, always wash your hands thoroughly with soap and water.

Healing Phase (First Two Weeks):

  • Moisturize regularly: Apply a thin layer of moisturizer 2-3 times a day, or as needed, to prevent dryness.

  • Keep it clean: Wash the tattoo daily with lukewarm water and mild soap, and pat it dry.

  • Avoid soaking: Do not submerge the tattoo in water (baths, pools, etc.) until it is fully healed.

  • Protect from the sun: Avoid direct sunlight and tanning beds during the healing process.

  • Avoid picking and scratching: Allow any peeling or scabs to come off naturally. Do not pick or scratch, as this can damage the tattoo.

Long-Term Care:

  • Continue moisturizing: Keep the tattoo moisturized even after it's healed to maintain its appearance.

  • Use sunscreen: Apply a high SPF sunscreen when exposed to the sun to prevent fading.

  • Avoid harsh products: Avoid using harsh exfoliants or scrubbing the tattooed area.

Important Reminders:

  • Follow your tattoo artist's specific aftercare instructions, as they may vary.

  • If you experience excessive redness, swelling, pain, or signs of infection, consult a medical professional immediately.

  • Be patient, as healing times can vary.
